The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
